there are no setbacks…

I sat down to sew my Reunion squares together yesterday and my machine went kaput. There is something wrong with the tension and I just got it back last week from having work done on the tension unit!I was not happy. But I still have so much to show you!I took the machine back to the shop for another look-see. Undeterred, I have been sewing on other projects, I just dusted off my Singer Featherweight. Always trusty, that one.I made these two blocksfor a quilt that Hopeful Threads is making for kids in foster care in Texas. I found this...

Living Large all weekend!

The hubs and the kids left town this morning. This is the first time in six years (since pre-children) that I am left home alone, completely left to run amok.Cleo and I are having a girls weekend and we are living large all weekend!Today was a great start, two friends came over this morning and we sewed up blocks for a baby quilt. Susie is expecting a grandson on Halloween, so we started this scrappy autumn number:Cleo and I went out to play ball and roll in the crunchy, dry grass (Cleo, not me) a couple of times during...

Happy August 1st!

Today is special in lots of ways.Especially, it marks one week of blogging for me! I cannot believe how many fun people have already visited and commented and have led me to new sites I hadn't see before. Thanks for the inspiration! Also,it is the first day of a new month, which for me means some quiet time at work (equals more sewing time). Tomorrow is my anniversary (nine years!) and hopefully we will get to have a date, which we haven't done in a while.Patrick is taking the boys to Colorado on Friday for a long weekend to visit...

Weekend W.I.P. and true love in fabric form

Have you ever found a fabric or collection that you just LOVE! ?Well, last winter when Sweetwater/Moda released the Reunion collection, it was love at first sight for me, and the feeling has not worn off. Only one of my local quilt shops had a teeny bit of it, so I settled for some charm packs from Green Fairy (they even sold out of it lickety split!)Anyway, this weekend I finished sewing some blocks with my charm squares:this is really basic piecing for me and it was fun! I wanted something that would stay simple so I can just...

My New Store…

Okay, I am so excited I could bust!It has long been my dream to write and create actual patterns for the quilts I create.I happen to be friendly with the owner of two local quilt shops (Quilt Beginnings, Columbus, Ohio). Last spring, she liked a quilt I made so much she asked me to teach it as a class at the shop! I quickly wrote it up as a pattern and she carries them at the store. Here is the original quilt:In order to write the pattern, I made a second version with more muted, kind of autumn colors,...

Blooming Rainbows!

First and foremost...thank you all for the wonderful welcome! I cannot believe how many visitors have stopped in to say hello. I apologize for not personally responding to each comment, but be assured they all make me smile! To go along with my clever title, I had planned on posting some pictures of my flower jungle garden. But mother nature has decided to turn on the sprinkler over said garden, so I am just including the rainbow part. I drove home from work so fast, picked up my boys, trying to get home before the big storm. It started pouring just...

Quilts, Quilts, Quilts, that’s me!

So, I have been unofficially following lots of quilting blogs for quite awhile. I decided it was time to share my own inspiration and hopefully join some conversations! I'm Sharon, and I live in the Columbus, Ohio, area. I don't know if living in Ohio technically makes me a yankee or not, but that is my quilting name, Yankee Quilter. I have one full time job...see below...two very blonde little boys, who are busy and tons of fun to have. I am also married, but the hubby is pretty much self-sufficient except when it comes to throwing away empty envelopes after opening...
