My Stash Overfloweth

I have to confess that I have not been very well behaved this week.I went to Starbucks twice yesterday.I bought fabric yesterday and today (why do I fool myself that I can just "stop in" to quilt shops and not give in to temptation?)Now, you are probably thinking, what is so bad about fabric shopping? well, the thing is, on Tuesday, my mailbox was filled with three (three!!) packages of fabric (to be fair, one of them was fabric I won for the Remember September project giveaway). My stash is exploding. And there is still so much beautiful fabric...

Green, gold, purple: orphan stars

Happy Monday!Whew! I survived a harrowing weekend of parents- and siblings-in-law and cousins visit...You know that overwhelmed feeling of way too much stimulation, way too long?Anyway, my boys had fun playing with their cousins and overall the visit went well, just noisy. So, I am thinking about my 100 day hustle to-do list. One of the things I have on it is to make progress on my orphan Lemoyne stars.I started with this fabric, it is soooo pretty, water-colory leaves in shades of green, gold, purple with little touches of pink.I took the palette and started making stars in four...

Those coreopsis that are now pink were yellow during the summer when it's hot, then turned pink in cool weather. Cool.Enjoy your weekend.Sharon

Happy Friday to All!I am excited to share my piece for the member's gallery show in October, featuring String QuiltsMy mom and I started our string quilts together (see hers in the gallery, Marian's String Thing) some years ago. I just love hers with the many colors and black mixed in, I am so lucky to be the new owner of it!Miki is showing her Kaleidoscope quilt, a style I really like. Check out her blog by clicking on the photo of her quilt...

Birthday Present

Today is a very important day. Thirty Four years ago my poor mother endured a 50 mile drive to the hospital in labor, only to be greeted with one tiny foot and a bum cheek, thus landing in the O.R. for a C-section. All for the pleasure of having me for a daughter. Thanks, Mom!This morning, with lots of help from my two boys, I opened a wonderful Birthday present from my mom and it was this Sensational Quilt! there are about a zillion different strips of fabric, it is so fun to look at all the prints. Thanks,...

Saturday Sampler #4

Yesterday, my friend Susie came over to sew with me! We made up the blocks for a baby boy quilt using my Frogs and Snails pattern. I just love the blue and yellow! We varied the pattern a bit by changing up the placement of color for the large rectangles and setting them straight, rather than on point. So, I just started checking out Pinterest. Yesterday I was browsing through some quilting boards and was totally shocked to find a picture of MY QUILT! I can't find the pin again to show you the photo, but it was a close...

Fabrics: My fans are coming together and they are so stinkin' cute. I don't usually care for projects that require making zillions of the same kind of unit, but I don't mind this one.Flowers: Here's what's blooming outside my window:Azaleas in September!? this is Autumn Amethyst, the newest addition to my brood, compulsively purchased on Thursday on the way to work. How can I resist an azalea that claims to re-bloom, has gorgeous purple/pink flowers, and promises fall/winter foliage? I am powerless.I also have a new tutorial on my tut page: Advanced Paper Piecing, the Mariner's Compass.I know, it...

Shameless Plug: Quilt Contest

Happy Friday!Today I am making a shameless plug for myself. I entered my Colors of Autumn sampler quilt in the weekly contest at Quilting Gallery. I hope you all will check it out and vote!  The voting is going on now (Friday Sept 21 through the weekend), I am sure there will be some beautiful quilts to see. This is my absolute favorite time of the year. The temperatures are "just right" outside, and in Ohio, we don't have a great deal of really nice weather days in a year. The colors are glorious! I love the spring and summer...
