So happy to share a new quilt! This is Vivid Grid, appearing in the brand new issue of Quilts and More magazine.
Sometimes it seems like forever between the time I make a quilt for a magazine and when I finally get to show you. It can be so hard to wait! As you can see from the photos, I made this quilt last summer…and I am so excited about it. It is a fabulous quilt for scraps, so the timing of the release is perfect for all of those determined to sew scraps and stash this New Year.
My version was made with some of my favorite bright and light stash prints. I have had a bin full of these “low volume” prints with green, aqua, and grays waiting for the perfect project. I paired the light prints with some my brightest Tula, Alison Glass and others, keeping the palette to pink, green, yellow and blue in aqua and navy shades. I love how these colors complement each other and create such heat.
My quilt was quilted by Darby at Quilted Squid…I really like this sweet all-over bubble pattern. I use Aurifil thread for my piecing and Hobbs batting. Aurifil is my favorite thread because it is beautifully fine but doesn’t break. A cone lasts me so long!
The Vivid Grid quilt is a nice throw size and would be easy to adjust to your own preference by making more or fewer blocks or adding borders. Look for Quilts and More at craft and book stores and newsstands now. It is a quick make and will make you feel very righteous for using up all those scraps (-:
Have a great week!
