When I saw the Lagom fabric collection at Spring Quilt Market in May, I instantly loved the minimal prints and colors! Lagom is a Swedish word meaning, “just the right amount”. That pretty much sums up the perfect fabrics!
Lagom is the latest collection from the designers at Art Gallery Fabrics…a perfect combination of black and white with pale blue and pink. The colors might evoke nursery decor, but the black and white makes it totally hip and very versatile.
The shades of blue in Lagom coordinate perfectly with several recent prints from other Art Gallery Fabrics collections, making the fabrics ideal to fit in with scraps and stash. This dusty blue looks amazing with basic white, but I would also love to mix in some mustard and golden yellows for a gorgeous scrappy quilt.
Of course, I always love pink! When you are looking at a limited color palette for pink, you pretty much can’t beat black and white. You could easily use just a handful of the Lagom prints with solid pink plus black. This would make a gorgeous Jumping Jacks quilt! Use the pink solid in place of the white solid in the background design.
I can never resist going all out for color, so I had to see how just the black and white prints of Lagom would look with colors other than pink and blue. I think this bright combo would be fabulous for a bold version of the Gossamer or Hula Girl quilts! I have recently fallen hard for black…I love how it makes bright colors pop and the clean contrast of black and white.
I am excited to put these Lagom fabrics to use in a new quilt! Now to only decide on which of these amazing combos to go with…
Have a great weekend!
