During the last little bit of my spring school semester, I squeezed a little time in to make a new Tipsy quilt for quilt market this month. Brenda Ratliff of Pink Castle Fabrics has a new fabric collection, One Room Schoolhouse, showing at market (will be in stores in July) and she asked me to make a sample to display in her booth and show off the fabrics.
You may be familiar with Brenda’s first collection, Pie Making Day, (RJR 2015) which was a bright colorful take of classic feed sack prints. The new collection is vintage inspired, too, with basic prints in small scale florals and dots, and a mix of soft and bright shades of pink, gray, blue, yellow and green.
I like how the Tipsy pattern uses large patchwork pieces so that the spotlight is really on the colors and prints. You can get your own copy of Tipsy in my pattern shop…don’t be intimidated by the curved piecing. This is a great pattern to start with if you want to try curves because they are large pieces and gradual curves. I would love to see what versions you come with!
Market is coming up in two weeks! I cannot wait to see friends and make new ones…hoping to make some new connections for getting my quilt designs out into the world.
