Finished Quilt Top! Sew Fun Curves

Cue the trumpets: I finished my latest quilt in progress (the top, at least)! I have had so much fun with piecing this quilt. I set out to make something completely new and unique to showcase my beautiful fabrics and colors, and challenge myself with the piecing....I love how it turned out and it is not nearly as tricky to piece as it looks! I am thinking about calling this "Summer Bloom", and plan to write a pattern for it. I hope there will be some interest out there for a pattern. The fabrics are primarily from the Lavish collection...

Sharing Quilt Market: a Giveaway

I've been away recently attending Quilt Market in Salt Lake City. Quilt Market is a twice-yearly gathering of wholesale venders to showcase their products and sell to the owners of quilt shops and such. This year, I decided to go and try to give my patterns and cards out to shop owners to introduce myself and patterns, and to (hopefully!) increase my wholesale sales. I also met with some magazine editors I am hoping to do some projects with. All in all, the event is super big, super exciting, and a bit exhausting. I can only imagine how it must...

You may know that I am a huge fan of designer Katarina Roccella's fabrics, so I have been pretty excited about her latest collection, Lavish (Art Gallery Fabrics), since Market last fall. I feel like it didn't get a lot of attention, but these fabrics are gorgeous! A couple of weeks ago, I had a new bundle of Lavish and was trying to decide what I wanted to make with the prints. It occurred to me that I haven't done a really challenging, super fun piecing quilt in a while. I did a little brainstorming for design ideas, and, not surprisingly...

Tipsy! a sweet finished quilt

During the last little bit of my spring school semester, I squeezed a little time in to make a new Tipsy quilt for quilt market this month. Brenda Ratliff of Pink Castle Fabrics has a new fabric collection, One Room Schoolhouse, showing at market (will be in stores in July) and she asked me to make a sample to display in her booth and show off the fabrics. You may be familiar with Brenda's first collection, Pie Making Day, (RJR 2015) which was a bright colorful take of classic feed sack prints. The new collection is vintage inspired, too, with...

For the Love of Fabric: Essentials 2

Pat Bravo (Art Gallery Fabrics) has a new basics fabric collection out, and it is perfection! As you may know, basics are my favorite to work with: prints with simple patterns, tone on tone, and small scales. Add to that Pat's color sense, and Essentials has my name all over it! The collection consists of prints in three color ways: pink, yellow and blue, but they still offer a good variety due to the variations in shade and scale of the prints. I decided to look through my stash and see what might pair well with these lovelies for future...
