Have you had a chance to see the newest quilt pattern in my shop? A couple of weeks ago I added the Archer quilt pattern, and now I have a beautiful new sample to share with you. This is the medium size, throw quilt featured in the pattern (it comes with three size options) and was sewn up by my mom (AKA pattern tester, sample quilt-maker extraordinaire). I so wanted to make this one myself because I absolutely love the fabrics I had picked for it…but time just hasn’t been on my side for quilting the last few months. I shipped the fabrics off to Mom and she returned a gorgeous top.
I also had high hopes of quilting this one myself…but decided to have Darby Myers quilt it for me (that time thing again!). I am so grateful for the help in getting this sample completed and ready to show as another example of the Archer pattern. The fabrics are primarily from the Maker collection by Art Gallery Fabrics (winter 2015). I also added some other AGF prints and bits from my stash to round out the colors and value. I have to say, I really love this design! I keep coming up with new ideas for putting it together differently. I really want to make one with a bold striped fabric in place of the solid gray and/or white. Wouldn’t that make for awesome movement?
Another thought is using low volume prints for the triangles with bright colors in place of the gray and white strips. This is a really easy pattern to sew up, and so many possibilities! The pattern also includes some alternate layout/color placement suggestions. It is tailored for using fat quarters, but would make a great stash buster, too.
Have a great week!
