On the Road: the Colors of Hawaii

As November comes to a close, there is good news here at Color Girl Quilts. I had the wonderful opportunity to spend the week of Thanksgiving with my family in Hawaii, on the Big Island. This is our favorite  vacation: something for both kids and parents as we all enjoy the scenery, weather, and especially snorkeling. The colors there are so unique...from the black lava landscape dotted with dried grass on the arid side of the island, to the lush tropical forests that we usually associate with Hawaii. This is the first time we visited at this time of year...I...

Claribel, a Free Quilt Pattern

Happy Sunday! just dropping in to say that I have a new quilt pattern, Claribel, now available. You can download the pattern FREE, courtesy of Hoffman Fabrics (click Here). I designed the Claribel quilt pattern to showcase Hoffman's new collection, also called Claribel. New! Ring Around Quilt in Quilters’ Companion

I have a new quilt pattern, and for those of you who love my curved piecing quilts, you are going to love Ring Around. The Ring Around quilt is featured in this month's issue of Quilters' Companion magazine, along with the pattern and templates to sew it. I have been waiting a long time to share this quilt, and I think it is one of my favorites of the past year. The pattern in the magazine is for a quilt like mine, which finishes at 48" square. I used Aurifil thread and Hobbs batting. Quilting by Darby Myers of Quilted...

Finished Quilt! Eclipse Pattern take 2

Last weekend I had the wonderful opportunity to go to Sewtopia, a retreat for quilters and sewers, in Portland, Oregon. One of the projects I took with me to finish is my little Eclipse quilt, and I am so proud to say that I did it! This little quilt is made from my Eclipse pattern (available to buy here/or in print from quilt shops). I started this quilt as demonstration for a class I taught at my local shop in October, and I kind of can't believe I finished it so quickly...working it in around my school work and family...

Happy Fall Fabric and Pattern Giveaway!

Happy November! Just popping in quickly to say thank you for all the sweet comments on my new quilt pattern, Sparkle, and also on my little Bikini quilt in the Bloggers' Quilt Festival. I have not been organized enough lately to answer individual comments, but I do read and appreciate each one. I can't believe my Bikini quilt was nominated for viewers' choice in the quilt festival over at Amy's Creative Side. I've never really had success with my quilts in competitions and stuff, so that is pretty flattering... You can vote this week for you favorites (including viewers' choice),...
