It’s December, and that means time for the Quilters’ Book Club. Once again, I chose four blocks from the “100 Modern Quilt Blocks, Tula Pink’s City Sampler” book. This month I decided on the theme of Strips and made blocks 58, 63, 64, and 66. When I laid the four out, I realized how cute they look together when you alternate the direction of the stripes in every other block. It would be fun to make a whole sampler quilt with basic blocks like this.
These blocks are the simplest I have made so far, and I actually worked on some of them as a “leader and ender” while I was piecing on my Aviatrix center medallion star this week.
It was nice to be able to get outside today with some sunshine! I took my whole stack of this year’s Quilters’ Book Club blocks outside. The ones above are some of my favorites so far…I have done crosses, triangles, squares and now, stripes. The colors and basic fabric prints make me feel good. You can find tutorials for making some of the blocks, Here, and start your own six inch sampler.
So far, I have made 28 six inch sampler blocks. As in previous months, I will post tutorials this week to make four more blocks of my own design, so we will have 32! Off to a great start.
I am getting excited to put them together…the pattern for assembling them will come next summer, once we have finished our 72 blocks.
The winner of last week’s charm pack bundle is JanineMarie! thanks to all who visited. Tune in for another fabulous giveaway this week…
