Merry Christmas! I mean, school just started, aren’t we all thinking about Christmas? This is when I start thinking about my shopping for Christmas, perhaps it’s time to think about sewing for Christmas, too.
I wanted to share this “Jewel Box” quilt made by Jane of Quilter’s Way, an online fabric and quilting store as well as a physical store in Massachusetts. Jane sells my pdf Color Girl patterns on her website (Here), and has recently made up this sample of the Jewel Box quilt for her shop. I really love it (I think maybe even more than my original!) and the idea of turning it into a Christmas quilt. It would be a nice wall hanging or thrown over the sofa for some winter color. I like that the fabrics and colors are not overtly Christmasy but when you look closely at the prints, they are definitely all holiday cheer!
Quilter’s Way has a kit available with Christmas fabrics (Joyful Holiday collection for Free Spirit) like this one. It makes a large throw size quilt (the pattern also includes instructions for a twin size). It was designed with a Layer Cake in mind, but would also work great with stash, scraps, or favorite fabrics. I made mine with mostly “Simply Color” by Vanessa Christensen (Moda Fabrics, Fall 2012) plus some stash.
It is so fun to see quilts made up with my patterns! Please do share your projects.
Have a Colorful Week (in a good way)
