Quilt in Progress: Mini Marcelle

Mini Marcelle Medallion Quilt

In my quest to spend July on my Works in Progress, I have made a little progress on my Mini Marcelle Medallion quilt. I have added the brick-like rectangle border and the solid fabric border, which is white with tiny green dots. I am really happy with how this is coming along: the colors are so cheerful and sweet, and there is just something fun about a tiny quilt. At this stage, it’s not too tiny anymore, about 27″ square.

I made a full size version of this popular pattern, you can see it Here.

I have said before how much fun I think medallion quilts are to make. This is now my third, including my original Marcelle (which hangs above my bed so I get to enjoy it every day!) and my Midnight at the Oasis.

There are a few other really fabulous patterns I want to tell you about if you haven’t already heard. If you love medallion quilts, check out Elizabeth Hartman’s “Aviatrix“, which she is now making again as a quilt-along. This one is on my (rather lengthy) to-do list, and there are some really beautiful versions of it popping up on Instagram.

I am going crazy over the various Block of the Month programs offered from Material Obsession, particularly the medallion-like “Cat’s Away“. I want to make it so much….I’m hoping it is offered as a stand-alone pattern someday.

So that’s a little peak into what I’m crushing on in quilt land right now. My garden is also in full bloom! We are having un-summery cool weather and rain, so the flowers are beautiful.

I hope it’s beautiful where you are, too!

I have not attempted a medallion quilt myself, yet. This one is very cheerful and bright. I like how subtle the green dots are in the border.

Oh, dear, I had to scroll down again. I guess I was wrong when I said it was fixed.
The flowers are beautiful. Oh, and os is the quilt! That’s right, we’re supposed to talk about quilting, aren’t we?
