I love it when my mom comes to visit me. We get to spend lots of time sewing together, enjoying each others’ company, and she often brings quilts to show. Today I am sharing her Midnight at the Oasis top. She brought it with her to turn in to my local long-arm quilter.
We have one more week in the Quilt-Along! I did a bit more quilting on mine tonight, but I am waiting until next week to show. I am really excited about it! Remember last time I posted about being afraid of FMQ? not anymore. I am just going for it, and I am really happy with the results. My sister told me it is addicting, and it really is…and way more fun than I expected. (honestly, I just expected it be really difficult and give me sore arms).
As you can see, Mom decided not to do the tiny churn dash blocks. Instead, she widened the appliqué flower border and redesigned it to her taste: big, bright and splashy! There really are lots of options with sampler-style quilts, you can make yours like the pattern, or just how you like. Isn’t this fun with all the bright color?
Remember, our final QAL link up is next Friday, January 31. Even if you don’t have the quilt finished (mine will not be), I hope you will link up a blog post or flickr page for all to see your progress. There are prizes, too, so come and show off! You might win some fabric for your next project.
