A Pretty Great Saturday

We have had quite a bit of snow in Central Ohio the last few days. It was much too daunting to pack up the boys for our usual Saturday outing to the gym, quilt shop and pet store, so we stayed in and had a Pretty Great Saturday. The setting: my kitchen table (teeheehee, my husband hates it when my quilting stuff escapes its designated "sewing room")The beverage: chai tea latteThe project: quilting my "Jewel Box" quilt (I might be setting a personal record here, a finished quilt in under a month!)The background noise:"mom, which family of mammals has the...

Let There Be Peace on Earth

In memory of the children and heroic teachers laid to rest this week; For all who are touched by violence across the world; For all who sacrifice in the name of peace and protection of innocence, I pray,Let there be peace on earthand let it begin with me.Let there be peace on earth the peace that was meant to be.With God as our Father, brothers all are we.Let me walk with my brother, in perfect harmony.Let peace begin with me, let this be the moment now. With every step I take, let this be my solemn vow;to take each momentin peace eternally.Let there be peace on...

Simply Color: palette play

I have thought of almost nothing but quilting since returning from Quilt Camp last week! amazing how a little inspiration and good company (and lots of sewing) can get you fired up.Unfortunately, I haven't had too much time, what with a certain big holiday coming up! but I did get out my Simply Color layer cake and start playing with fabric...I have a design already created, but didn't want any repeats of prints, so I eliminated all the duplicates. That meant I had to find some others to replace them so I have 42 again (the pattern I am...

A big finish!

My Fans!Hi, there! Hope everyone had a great weekend. I am super excited to show you my finished fan quilt top! Those borders were a bear and slowed me down a bit, but so worth it, I love it. I have wanted to do a border like this on a quilt for a long time. I just pieced scraps from the fans into four-patches and strips and added some larger squares and rectangles of prints that coordinate. I absolutely love this fabric collection. Some are from a line called "long live vintage" by AdornIt, some are various Sweetwater collections, and...
